BROTHERHOOD OF THE RING
To become a brother one must meet the following standards and agree to the requirements and guidelines listed below.
- All brothers must have ready to fly or have under construction a Ringmaster model S-1. This is the OT legal profile that we flew back in the early 1950's and when we refer to a Ringmaster, it is this model that we are referring to. All brothers that do not have a flyable Ringmaster or are not building a Ringmaster, can still qualify by having ordered a kit, plan to build one, have built one, have ever flown one, or just wish they had one.
- All members are encouraged display the Brotherhood seal and the Ring motto which will be given to each Brother as part of a decal sheet. The motto being considered at this time is: "Ringmaster's Rule" and is included in the logo. We hope to later have hats, T-shirts, flags and other cheesy stuff.
- All dues are voluntary and the amount assessed by the secretary based on current administrative costs and planned activities.
- The activities, administration, rules and events will be decided upon by a consensus of the membership. This can be done by communication with the President and Secretary or by contacting the other Brothers.
- Any member can propose an idea and it will be adopted by consensus of the membership.
- There will be at least one planned Brotherhood fly-in and social each year. These can be staged anywhere, but the first one will be in Houston in the fall of 2006 and, if possible, AMA sanctioned for Ringmasters only. David Gresens' dad will be the CD. We already have manufacturer sponsors.
- The interim president is David Gresens and the interim secretary is Dee Rice.
- One of the highest honors of the Brotherhood is receiving a nickname. Your nickname will be given to you by your brothers; however, it can be changed at anytime by the Brotherhood, depending on where and how you screw up.
- We plan to have a Brotherhood of the Ring web page and forum.
- Any brother can be suspended, fined or censured by consensus of the rest of the Brotherhood by committing an egregious atrocity, such as competing with a Flight Streak. The fine may be in the form of having to pay for a round-for-the-house.
- There will be status levels given within the Brotherhood to honor certain levels of accomplishment, i.e.:
- All members in good standing are Brothers of the Ring
- Any Brother of the Ring can also become a Master of the Ring by scoring 270+ in Old Time Stunt or 450+ in AMA or PAMPA Stunt.
- Any Brother of the Ring can also become a Grand Master of the Ring by scoring 310+ in Old Time Stunt or 500+ in any AMA pattern event.
- All Brothers must learn and use the secret Brotherhood handshake, but only with other Brothers of the Ring. (The handshake was extensively tested and covertly developed by Brother to be Mike Finnigan)
- This will be difficult, but to demonstrate personal self control, it occasionally will be required of a brother to momentarily stop smiling while flying his Ringmaster. This must be witnessed by another brother, but it is not necessary to be sincere.
All rules and regulations are subject to change by consensus of the Brotherhood. To insure political correctness, a Sisterhood of the Ring will also be included.
